Bolsonaro detained after being declared a flight risk
Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities determined he posed a definite escape threat while under domestic detention.
The ex-president was found guilty of planning a armed takeover in September and given more than a 27-year term in jail, but he continued under confinement pending court reviews.
Top Judicial Official Justice Moraes said the move to detain the septuagenarian politician was a preventative measure after fresh information emerged.
This included seeking to disable his tracking device and a invitation to a supporters' gathering that could enable a potential flight.

In a paperwork permitting the custody, the magistrate said intelligence from the facility tracking his home detention suggested the ex-president's aim to disable the tracking monitor to ensure success in his getaway".

His offspring, Flávio, who serves as a congressional representative, called for a gathering of his backers near Bolsonaro's home to take place on Saturday night.

Context of Sentencing
The former president was found guilty of leading a plot aimed at retaining his authority after he lost the presidential race to his ideological adversary, President Lula.
Supreme Court justices said that he had knowledge of a scheme which included plans to murder Lula and his vice-presidential running mate, his vice-presidential candidate, and to detain and kill the presiding judge - the Supreme Court justice who has been managing the former president's case.
The conspiracy was prevented because it didn't receive the endorsement of the military leaders. Lula was sworn in without issue on 1 January 2023.
But a week later, on the eighth of January, numerous his backers invaded and destroyed government buildings in the capital, Brasília.
