Patriots Match Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign

New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

Rookie Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019

Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to two victories and eight defeats

The Jets had scored first at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a short rushing score to finish the New York's first possession

But the New England fought back in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third period to make it 21 to 7

"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
