President Trump Abandons Proposal to Deploy Government Forces to San Francisco Bay Area
The President has called off plans for a deployment of government forces to the Bay region that had provoked widespread condemnation from state officials and drawn protesters flooding into the city centers.
Local Concern Over Potential National Presence
The locale had been concerned after reports emerged that the government was poised to send approximately 150 border control and government personnel to the military facility in across the Bay, as part of a large-scale border control initiative.
Leadership Action Following Discussions
However, the president announced he would not move forward with a “escalation” of national agents in the area after speaking with the local official, Daniel Lurie, and tech industry executives including Salesforce CEO and technology leader.
“In that conversation, the chief executive told me directly that he was terminating every proposal for a national operation in this municipality,” city leadership stated in a statement.
